PDFormer
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 June 2026
PDFormer is a browser extension for filling, signing, and editing PDF files. It is built so that your documents never leave your device.
What we collect
Nothing. PDFormer has no analytics, no telemetry, and no account system. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information, document content, or usage data.
How your documents are handled
- Every PDF you open is processed entirely on your device, inside your browser.
- Opening, editing, signing, redaction, OCR, and export all run locally. Your document is never uploaded to any server.
- OCR (making scans searchable) runs on-device using a bundled engine — the text is recognized locally and nothing is sent anywhere.
Local storage
The extension stores a few preferences locally using your browser's chrome.storage.local: your saved signature, your theme choice, and (if purchased) your Pro license. This data stays on your device and is never transmitted to us.
The only network connections
PDFormer makes a network request in just two cases, and neither one ever includes your document:
- Pro activation: when you activate a Pro license, the extension contacts the license provider (Gumroad) to verify your key. Only the license key is sent.
- "Paste a link" loading: if you choose to load a PDF from a web address you paste, the extension fetches that single file from the address you provided. This happens only when you initiate it, and the extension asks for permission for that site at that moment.
Permissions
storage — to save your signature, theme, and license locally.
- Optional host access — requested only at the moment you activate a license (Gumroad) or load a pasted link (that site). Not requested on install and never used to read your browsing.
Third parties
We do not sell, rent, or share any data with third parties. The only third party involved is the license provider (Gumroad), and only to verify a Pro purchase you make.
